1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the website to remember your preferences, maintain your session, and collect anonymous usage data. Cookies cannot run programs, deliver viruses, or access data from other parts of your device.

2. How MeritPeer Uses Cookies

MeritPeer uses cookies solely for essential website functionality. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or cookies for behavioural profiling. Our cookie usage falls into two categories: (1) Essential cookies required for basic website functionality such as navigation and form submission; and (2) Session cookies that expire when you close your browser, used to maintain your browsing session.

3. Specific Cookies We Use

Session cookie (mp_session): Maintains your browsing session. Expires when browser closes. Essential — cannot be disabled without breaking site functionality. Announcement preference (mp_ann): Remembers if you have closed the announcement bar. Stored in sessionStorage (not a cookie). Session duration only. No analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, no third-party tracking cookies are currently deployed on meritpeer.com.

4. Third-Party Cookies

MeritPeer does not embed third-party content that sets cookies by default. If you use the WhatsApp contact link, Facebook Messenger link, or LinkedIn links in our footer, those platforms may set their own cookies subject to their own privacy policies.

5. Managing Cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Instructions for the most common browsers: Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies. Firefox: Options → Privacy & Security → Cookies. Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Cookies. Edge: Settings → Privacy, Search and Services → Cookies. Note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of some parts of meritpeer.com.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Material changes will be noted with an updated date at the top of this page.
