Every reviewer in the MeritPeer network undergoes rigorous 6-stage verification. Zero exceptions.
Not All Peer Reviewers Are Equal
The value of pre-submission review depends entirely on the quality of the reviewer. MeritPeer's vetting process is the most rigorous in the industry — because anything less would be meaningless to your research.
Doctoral Degree Verification
Every reviewer must hold a PhD, MD, DPhil, or equivalent terminal degree from an accredited institution. We verify directly against institutional records and awarding bodies.
Publication Record Check
Minimum 5 peer-reviewed articles indexed in Scopus, WoS, or PubMed within the past 5 years. We cross-check every publication against Scopus Author ID and ORCID.
Subject Expertise Matching
Reviewer subject keywords are extracted from their publication history and matched against manuscript content using our proprietary AI. Methodology type, discipline, and sub-discipline must align.
Editorial Experience Priority
Priority placement in our reviewer pool is given to academics with editorial board membership, guest editor experience, or documented ad-hoc review history at indexed journals.
Mandatory NDA & Ethics
Every reviewer signs a legally binding NDA before each manuscript assignment — not a blanket agreement, but per-manuscript documentation. Conflict of interest declaration required for every review.
Ongoing QA Scoring
Every review is scored by our QA editorial panel on 10 dimensions: depth, specificity, accuracy, structure, actionability, and more. Reviewers scoring below 4.2/5.0 are suspended immediately.
Every Report Checked Before Delivery
Unlike competitor services, MeritPeer does not deliver reviews directly from reviewer to author. Every report passes through our QA editorial panel — a second layer of expert review that catches errors, ensures completeness, and verifies the reviewer's expertise match.
